Leeds

In Leeds, Year 7 students from  South Leeds High worked with a group of South Asian elders brought together through South Leeds Health for all. The group used dance, sculpture, writing and painting to examine the differences and similarities between them. The group worked with local visual artists Wendy McArthur and Lowri Evans and creative writer Sonia Hughes in order to creatively respond to the processes they undertook.

Brian Slater documented the work that took place at the Ramgharia Centre, while Amanda Burns, one of the teachers from South Leeds High helped to record the work at the Playhouse.

Writer Sue Wood also worked with a group of older gentlemen who meet at the Ramgharia Centre in Chapeltown to discuss and record their experiences of settling in Leeds.

The work produced throughout both of our projects was presented at west Yorkshire Playhouse, throughout July 2007.
